measuring guide + checklist

Ordering the correct size enclosure is the crucial first step to a proper installation. The following diagrams and notes are designed to help guide you through proper measurement process. Please take a moment to review. The more information you can provide the better.

Design guide and checklist:

  • Provide centreline dimensions after all tiling/ finishing is complete
  • Any out-of-square conditions clearly indicated
  • Hardware finish
  • Header or support bar, if necessary
  • Handle style, hinge style
  • Door size (standard sizes indicated in our catalogue)
  • Door pivot side indicated
  • U-channel or clamps for fixed panels
  • Type of glass: clear, obscure, starphire, etc.
  • Enduro shield glass coating option
  • Wall hinges and heavy glass sliders require adequate stud backing to support doors – see above figure

Example (letters correspond to the diagrams on the left):

A. What is the centreline dimension of the threshold?

B. What is the height of the buttress?

C. What are the centreline dimensions of the return panel(s)?

D. What is the maximum height the installation will accept?

E. Specify the desired height of the enclosure

F. What is/are the angle(s) on any return panel(s)?

  • Clearly indicate the positions of any out-of-square conditions
  • Measurements should be centreline after tiling is complete
  • Note if there is a radius at the interface between the tiles and the tub or shower base
  • Provide dimensions
